The visa and residence permit for remote workers and international professionals living in Spain while working for companies or clients abroad.

Who can apply?

• Employees with a contract from a company outside Spain.
• Freelancers with multiple international clients (Spanish clients ≤ 20%).
• Professionals with provable experience or a relevant degree.

Key documents

• Employment or freelance relationship of at least 3 months.
• Employer letter authorising remote work from Spain.
• Apostilled criminal record certificate (last 5 years).
• Private health insurance with full coverage in Spain.
• Proof of income (~200% of Spanish minimum wage / month).

Timelines

Once the file is complete, the UGE resolves in roughly 20 business days. The initial permit lasts 3 years and is renewable for 2 additional years.

From Spain or from the consulate?

Both paths work. If you're already in Spain as a tourist (first 90 days), we file the residence authorisation directly with the UGE. If you're still abroad, we file the consular visa and then process the TIE on arrival.
